the best restaurants in victoria

In July I had the pleasure of once again attending the annual awards night for the Savour Restaurant and Catering Association for Victoria and Tasmania.  I have curated the best of the Victorian Restaurant winners into my own categories to give you some inspiration for a guaranteed good feed no matter what the occasion.  Restaurants with an * come with the tried and tested seal of approval from The Baroness.  Congratulations to all of the winners.

The Savour Restaurant & Catering Awards are independently judged on up to 66 different criteria.  In most categories restaurants self nominate by completing an entry form and paying the associated fee.  This year’s event was held at The Peninsula, Docklands and attended by hundreds of well known and up and coming restauranteurs and caterers alike.  We began the night with a generous amount of canapés, the most popular being the freshly shucked oysters.  Everyone took their seats and enjoyed some very tasty Mount Zero olives followed by a 3 course dinner of the finest Victorian ingredients showcasing scallops and trout in a parcel of ravioli, succulent Gippsland braised beef cheek slow cooked for 12 hours and a dessert of citrus tart with crème fraiche. All happily washed down with Pizzini prosecco and wines by Oakdene and Tellurian.
