This saloon is so Mel-York. The perfect blend of everything that makes going out in Melbourne and NYC so entertaining.
The Thai spiked heat of the food will give those serotonin levels a good kick. My pick of the night was the kingfish sashimi. Being able to watch it be assembled at the pass behind the bar adds to the fun.
The beauty of the actual bar is also something to behold, all that smooth, cool marble. I am not an aficionado on surfaces but that's what it looks like and that's good enough for me. The staff are friendly and appear knowledgeable about the food as well as the drinks
The lighting, controlled from an iPad, warms the moody interior and the awesomely curated music pumps seamlessly through the quality speaker system. If only there was a dance floor. But I can imagine that the MM patrons will find a way to get their groove on here regardless. I sense a debaucherous vibe.
The sister establishment to The Toff, Cookie, Boney and Revolver was only ever going to be hot. I can't wait to come back and try a bowl of steaming hot congee for breakfast. That's right, they do breakfast too which may just be the fix you need after a night on the cocktails.
