When Bircher muesli tastes like a luscious, luxurious dessert I know this is not the recipe Michelle Bridges prescribes the 12wbt disciples. With each creamy, deliciously balanced sweet bite I wonder what sort of workout I am going to need to do to burn off all of this "healthy" raspberry and pistachio topped goodness.
Especially when I pair it with the deservedly acclaimed hot chocolate, what a delight this is. A more decadent hot chocolate I am yet to meet. I mean what’s not to love above pouring a jug of creamy, steaming hot chocolate over a tantalising hunk of actual chocolate and letting it all meld together before you take the first pleasurable, intoxicating sip. Too much? When you try it, you’ll thank me.
Whilst I contemplate the pleasures of my choices and the pain that will need to follow, I am in awe of the fried brioche that my friend is relishing. It is truly something to behold but not to be trifled with. You need to be a professional sweet tooth for this one.
If a savory breaky is more your bag, there are many delicious options with the baked eggs and chorizo proving the most popular. Menu options change with the seasons and lunch is also on offer.
Service here is efficient with our meals arriving in a matter of moments. The gorgeous fit out and so french so chic sound track made me feel like I was in Paris...thankfully without the attitude. Choose to sit inside or out but do not bring a whole crew with you, it is more of a subtle affair than a post peloton refueling stop. This café is a well-oiled machine in the very foodie Hardware Street. Forget Hardware Lane, this street is where it’s at. So either come at early doors or be prepared to pop your name on the wait list and hang around the street with tourists, francophiles and locals alike. I usually won’t queue for food but would make an exception here. The Hardware Societe is the perfect example of naughty but nice, very, very, nice.
